Selected as the first pick in the second importation, Irma’s luster and lock were immediately obvious. She was transported back to Spokane and arrived the day of the first Alpaca Showcase, judged by Don Julio Barreda. Her owners carried Irma, who would not lead, to the show ring and drug her around the arena. She was matted and dirty, but when Don Julio opened her fleece and looked at her luster, he grinned broadly at her new owners. Irma was awarded first place; her first and only show experience.

Irma has been on a small farm and under bred. She has only thrown seven cria since her importation. Two of those have gained notoriety including Tagi of Legacy Hills, co-owned by Latah Creek Alpacas and Chelsea Farms, who took First Place and Color Champion at The Futurity,as well as First Place and Color Champion at CABA. Irma was purchased in 2003 by SunRock Suris and has thrown wonderful dense, lusterous cria each year. She is an easy breeder, seems to birth effortlessly and is a patient and devoted mother. She has a large udder with lots of milk. Although an older female, Irma is quite lively and in excellent health. She holds her weight well when nursing and is as active as any of our mature females. This year her cria, Alita, is exceptional with uniform tiny tight lock and excellent luster. She bred to our junior herdsire Peruvian Wyatt for a fall 2010 cria.
